Murrindindi

Ardent were engaged to design a contemporary home located on a picturesque farming property in outer Melbourne.

The design is based on the idea of a private side and public side to the house. The private side to the house has all of the bedrooms, study and bathroom. The public side to the house has all the entertaining areas and access to views and sunlight.

In a contemporary living arrangement we looked at creating an eating area that is connected to the kitchen and is to be used for all meals. The large concealed doors allow for the eating area to be closed off from the living area for dinner parties.

There are two decks to the house, one that utilises winter sun in the late afternoon and one that is designed for use in summer.

The corridor to the house is used for both access to each end of the house as well as allowing sunlight through the length of it. The corridor and folding doors to the living areas are designed to promote cross flow ventilation in the house.
