Skyglider

Ardent were commissioned to design a building to house a tourist attraction. The building is to be located on top of the existing car park at the east end of federation square. We developed the design around the idea of movement and trying to capture this in a buildings form.

The curved form of the building was developed to relay the effect of airflow and current on form. The variation in panel color was designed to give the visual effect of sky and clouds passing quickly by while in flight.

The coloured bands around the building are to represent trailing streamers like those attached the tail of the hang glider.
